Ann Burns, age 96, of Le Sueur passed away on April 15, 2012. She was born September 22, 1915, to Joseph and Christina (Riebel) Genelin in Sharon Township, Le Sueur County. She attended District #77 Country School. Ann married Robert Burns on June 27, 1936, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Ann retired from the Green Giant printing department in 1975. She was active in the Le Sueur Museum. She co-authored the book, “Le Sueur, Town on the River” and organized the Green Giant Golden Ambassadors. Ann was chosen to be the woman senior citizen of the county in 1987 and the Grand Marshall of the Giant Days celebration in 2002. She was active in St. Anne’s CCW, Hospital Auxiliary, a missions quilting group, the Le Sueur Historians, Life Writers, Meals on Wheels and served on the St. Anne’s Board of Trustees. Ann’s lifetime interests included painting, genealogy, card games, and travel. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1965; seven brothers, Louie, Len, Clem, Philip, Joe, Fritz, and Urban; one sister, Catherine Holicky; son-in-law Fritz Dolejs; grandson Michael Dolejs; and great-grandson Robert Francis Allen. Ann is survived by daughters Pat Dolejs, Apple Valley; Kathy Riebe, Le Sueur, and Joan Brady and husband Mike, Forest, VA; son Tom and wife Mary of Green Bay; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Solyntjes, of St. Paul. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur with Father George Grafsky officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday April 18, at the Kolden Funeral Home, 529 Turril Street, Le Sueur from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a C.C.W. rosary at 4:00 p.m. and concluding with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Le Sueur. Ann’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Garden View Nursing Home for their exceptional care.
