Kolden Funeral Service
(June 10, 1935 - April 16, 2012)
LaVerna Winterfeldt, age 76 of rural Belle Plaine, died on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Friday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
LaVerna was born at home in Belle Plaine Township on June 10, 1935 to Christian and Frieda (Stier) Schultz. She grew up in Belle Plaine Township and attended country school. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School and went right to work at the State Bank of Belle Plaine. On April 19, 1956 she married Manley Winterfeldt at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. She worked for several companies including the plastic plant, the Belle Plaine Creamery and AMPI in New Prague until her retirement. She was a lifelong Belle Plaine Township resident and a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. LaVerna enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. She loved playing cards, games and spending time with her family, especially at the lake. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ellsworth Schultz.
She is survived by her husband Manley, Daughter, Rita (Patrick) Zierden of Monticello, Sons, David (Linda) Winterfeldt of Belle Plaine, Jerome (Lori) Winterfeldt of Buffalo, John (Barb) Winterfeldt of Belle Plaine, 9 Grandchildren, Sara Schwartz (Randy), Matthew Zierden, Jennifer Winterfeldt, Christopher Winterfeldt Michael Winterfeldt, Cassandra Winterfeldt, Adam Winterfeldt Andrew Winterfeldt and Aiden Winterfeldt 1 Great Grandchild, Emma Wolters, Sisters, Delores Krentz of Belle Plaine and Shirley Gruber of Anoka, Many Nieces and Nephews.
