Sid grew up in the LeSueur area where he farmed with his dad. He spent 5 years in the US Navy from 1957 to 1962 where he did electrical work on airplanes. He was a long-time member of the Nisswa American Legion.  Upon his discharge, he purchased farm land near Henderson and got back into farming. He also went to electrical school to earn his license. He would later open and operate Tousley Appliance & Electric in Le Sueur.

On June 8, 1990 he married Elvera (Floer) Hoppe in Brainerd, MN. They resided near Henderson until 1995 when Sid & Elvera moved to Crosslake, MN. They loved to visit the north woods and it was time to make it their home. Together they opened Electric Services. It was then that Sid taught Elvera how to wire a house. Together they wired hundreds of homes in the Crosslake area. Sid retired in May of 2017, which allowed for more time to do what they both loved - hunting deer, fishing area lakes & Canadian waters, visits to Ely & the North Shore, playing Nickle Dickle with the neighbors and visiting with friends & family on the deck. Sid loved to talk so they enjoyed a lot of conversations on that deck. He was an upbeat happy guy who loved his family dearly. He made friends easily, he was a BS’er at heart and loved to make people laugh. He will be missed by many dear friends and a loving family.
