Wilbur E. Jones, age 94 of rural LeSueur died at his Ottawa Township farm on Friday, March 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in LeSueur. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery in LeSueur. Visitation will be on Monday, April 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Tuesday, www.koldenfuneralhome.com
Wilbur was born on February 26, 1930 in Ottawa Township to Roger and Hazel (Aufderhar) Jones. He graduated from LeSueur High School and later served in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He returned to the family farm after being honorably discharged. He married Veryl Brattland on February 1, 1958 in Wadena, Minnesota. Wilbur was a grain and livestock farmer with cattle and hogs. He was skilled at carpentry and built his home and most of the buildings on his farm. He was a life-long member of the LeSueur United Methodist Church and was active in the LeSueur County Pork Producers and the Farm Bureau. He and Veryl enjoyed various bus and cruise vacations. He spent leisure hours in his garden.
He is survived by Sons, David (Susan) Jones of LeSueur,
Gary (Mary Jo) Jones of Carver
Daughter, Cheryl (Blake) Edmondson of LeSueur.
Grandson, Trace Edmondson and two step-grandchildren,
Brittany (Chad) Miller of Buffalo, North Dakota and Joshua (Melissa) Edmondson of LeSueur and 7 Great-grandchildren, Weston, Laramie & Maddie Edmondson; Jude, Grace, Abigail and Evan Miller.
Also surviving are Sister, Kathy (Marvin) Novotny and Brother-in-law M. L. (Bud) Christenson.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Veryl in 2020, parents, Roger and Hazel Jones, Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Harold and Darline Jones, Elden and Nellie Jones and Sister and Brother-in-Law, Lucille (Kermit) Heldberg, and Sister-in-law, Muriel Christenson.
