Doris brightened the room when she entered with her matching choice of clothing. Her color of the day was always tasteful and attractive. She intentionally matched her necklace, earrings and bracelet watch to her outfit right down to her matching colored shoes and socks.

Heaven is sure to take note when her sweet smile enters. Doris Ann (Hale) Edberg was born on August 8, 1937. She attended school in Le Sueur and graduated with the class of 1955.  She caught Bruce Edberg’s eye while attending a youth event at the Redeemer church on Hwy 19, Henderson, MN.

Doris worked in bookkeeping for Christianson Appliance in Le Sueur.  This afforded her, her love for shoes, and her love to buy gifts for others.

Bruce talked her into a double date and the personalities melded into the perfect pair. They married in June of 1957. They married at the Church of Christ in Cleveland and went to South Dakota for their honeymoon. They made their home in Belle Plaine in the basement home built on a portion of the Frankland Farm on county road 64.

Together they raised their 4 children in Belle Plaine on their hobby farm.  They were involved members of the United Presbyterian Church of Belle Plaine as Youth Group Leaders and Doris served many terms as President of UP Women, as well as long term Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent and Vacation Bible School Leader. She and Bruce put many Sunday School Annual Christmas Pageants together, involving the Adult Choir and flying angels.

Doris belonged to a sewing club and the “Modern Mothers” Scott County Extension group. She loved to sew and reupholster her furniture, and decorate (paint and wallpaper) her home. She loved to can vegetables from her garden, pickle cucumbers and beets and freeze green giant corn with her mother and sister and put up Strawberry jam with honorary grandparents; Jack and “Huffy( Ellen) and Gladys Huffman.  She was a good cook and created the best Roast Beef dinner with all the fixings on Sundays. She loved to polka and square dance with Bruce and play games with her kids. Doris Day movies were her favorite along with most musicals. She sang in the Choir and was a creative crafter.

Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband; C. Bruce Edberg (1995), her parents; George and Mary Ila Hale of Le Sueur. Her brothers; Geo. Dayton, Darwin, and Darrel and her sisters; Donna and Dorothy. Her granddaughter; Toni Huber and her second husband and high school friend; Maynard Krentz.
