Arlina Baumann, age 89 of Belle Plaine passed away on December 31, 2018 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Friday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday morning. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Arlina was born in New Prague on February 27, 1929 to Emil and Ella (Holste) Gerdes. She was baptized on March 31, 1929 and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at St. John Lutheran. She attended Belle Plaine schools. She married Harold Baumann on May 21, 1947 at St. John Lutheran by Rev. P.J. Haupt. She worked for Dotty’s Café, the milk plant in Belle Plaine, and the Norwesco Plastic plant. She was a lifelong member of St. John and served as Sunday school superintendent from 1975-76. She served as treasurer and president of the VFW Auxiliary 6202. Arlina enjoyed living on the farm as a child, gardening, playing cards, fishing, sewing and quilting over 375 quilts. Most enjoyable was time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and e-mails from family and friends.

Brothers, Vernon (Dorothy) Gerdes of Jordan and Marvin (Donna) Gerdes of Prior Lake,
Sisters in law, Irene Baumann and Jean Meierbachtol.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1976, grandsons Dana Baumann and Harold Baumann; siblings, twins Leland and Leona, and Clarence, all at birth, and sister Adella (Lawrence) Ernst.
