Betty Ann Carlson, age 91 of rural Henderson passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 at Oak
Terrace Senior Living in Jordan, Minnesota. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Saturday, September 21st at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, Minnesota with
Reverend Martin Bentz officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Arrangements are by Kolden
Funeral Home of Belle Plaine.
Betty was born at home on February 23, 1928 in San Francisco Township of Carver County to
Rudolph Andrew and Anne Sarah (Moore) Halquist. She was baptized on April 8, 1928 at the
Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine. Betty was confirmed on June 27, 1943 at West Union
Lutheran Church in Carver County. She was a 1946 graduate of Belle Plaine High School. She
married John W. Carlson on May 24, 1947 at the Moravian Church in Chaska, Minnesota. Betty
and John farmed in Faxon Township, Sibley County and during that time Betty was John’s
partner in the family farming operation. Betty will best be remembered by her family, especially
by her grandchildren for those daily breakfast outings at Emma Krumbee’s restaurant. Betty
enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing and gardening.
Betty is survived by children; Larry Carlson and his dear friend Pauline Liebhard, Judy (Ron)
Hoff and Jim (Kay) Carlson; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; cousin Jeanne Bateman;
and sisters-in-law Shirley Carlson and Helen Hennen. Betty is preceded in death by her parents,
husband and brother William Halquist.
