Daniel Lawrence Leonard, 63 of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2019, surrounded by his family.
Please join us in celebrating his life on Sunday July 28th, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine starting at 3 p.m. and lasting until 7 p.m. Family and Friends are welcome to stay and visit in the gathering area and enjoy beverages and desserts.
Dan was born on November 28th, 1955 to Jim and Florence Leonard in New Prague, Minnesota. He was the eldest of six grew up in the town of Belle Plaine, a place that would become his life long home. In his younger years he enjoyed participating in sports, playing basketball through high school and football into college. He met his wife Jill in elementary school. They have spent the past 42 years building a life together.
Dan was a jack of all trades and had many different career endeavors over the course of his life but his most recent employer was Miles Lorentz out of St. Peter Minnesota where he was a foreman/ driver. He enjoyed relaxing at home , traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dan is survived by his wife Jill Leonard ( Renneke) and his four children. Melissa (Dan Treinen) Brueske, Rebecca (Sam) Vanderpoel, Crystal (Jake) Creighton, Aaron (Sarah) Leonard; His parents Jim and Florence Leonard; Five siblings Michelle Leonard, Dave (Michelle) Leonard, Pat (Judy) Leonard, Mark (Liz Coy-Leonard) Leonard, Mary (John) Bigaouette and many nieces and nephews; 14 Grandchildren Caelin, Grace, Josiah Brueske, Alyssa, Brandon Emma Treinen, Matthéüs and Simon Vanderpoel, Reed and Mila Creighton, Lucy, Macy, Annie, Elsie Leonard.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Frances and Walter Schwartz, Rose and Lawrence Leonard son Joshua.
Memorial donations are preferred and will be used by the family in honor of Dan. Proceeds will be given to the Little Hospice care facility in Edina.
