Daryl J. Woods

Daryl James Woods, age 81 of Arlington, died peacefully on October 12, 2019 at Arlington Good Samaritan Home with family by his side after a brief battle with lung cancer.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19th at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Green Isle.

Daryl was born on June 4, 1938 in Winthrop, MN/Bismarck Township to James and Laurinda (Olson) Woods.   He helped on the family farm and participated in FFA while at Winthrop high school.  On April 25, 1964 he was united in marriage to Elaine Pautsch in Green Isle, MN.  They lived most of their lives in the Green Isle / Arlington area.  Daryl worked as a machinist, first at Farmhand in Green Isle and later at Le Sueur, Inc. until his retirement in 2003.

Some of Daryl’s activities included fishing, hunting, antique collecting, playing cards, attending antique tractor shows, and relaxing in his garage on nice summer days.  He was president at the Arlington Golden Age Club for a number of years and was a past member on the board of education and stewardship board at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Green Isle.  Daryl also enjoyed spending time with his children and their families.

Daryl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine; children, LaValle (Leon) Bembenek of Mankato, MN, and Steve (Michelle) Woods of Rogers, MN; 4 grandchildren, Jamie (Zach) Malwitz, Brandon Bembenek, Kelli (Dan) Ollhoff, and Megan Woods;  3 great-grandchildren, Braylon, Londyn, and Charlotte Malwitz; sister, Loreene Corderoy of Winthrop, MN; and brother, Carroll (Joyce) Woods of Gibbon, MN.
