Deloris Beckel, age 92, passed away peacefully at Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter,
MN on Sunday, July 8, 2018. A native of LeSueur, MN, she was born on September 20, 1925 to Edward and Lillian (Sinell) Ziebarth. Deloris graduated from LeSueur High School and then worked as a secretary at Green Giant in LeSueur. In 1947, she met the love of her life, Walter Beckel, at the wedding of her closest friend and future brother-in-law, C.T and Annette Beckel; they were married on August 16th, 1947 at St. Anne's Catholic Church and were married 71 years. The couple raised four children and farmed in the Lake Prairie and Rush River areas until 1977 when they retired from farming and moved to LeSueur. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, and Rush River Birthday Club. Deloris enjoyed spending time with her family, flower gardening, reading, watching the birds and was known for making the best banana cream pie you could ever hope to eat.
Deloris is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Floyd Ziebarth. She will be greatly missed by her husband Walter; sons Thomas (Candace) of Kasota, Kenneth (Chris) of Brainerd, John (life-partner, Nicole Martin)of St. Peter, daughter Patricia Cina (Craig) of Lino Lakes, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Kolden Funeral Home on Friday, July 13, starting with a 4:00 p.m. C.C.W. Rosary, visitation will begin at 4:15 p.m. until, 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday Morning at the Kolden Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. ~ 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in LeSueur with Fr. James Stiles presiding; interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in LeSueur, lunch to follow at St. Anne's School. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Anne's Catholic Church in LeSueur or the Alzheimer‘s Association Minnesota-North Dakota, 7900 West 78th St, Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN 55439 or you may call them at 952-830-0512; gift purpose: research. The Beckel family acknowledges with heartfelt gratitude the staff at Benedictine Living Community, St. Peter, for their compassion and attention to the needs of our dear wife and mother.
