He was proud to be a WW II Army Air Corp pilot. At 19 he was flying B-24 and B-17 bombers. Following his service, he attended college in St. Louis, MO and it is while in school, he swept Rose Mary Toelle off her feet, graduated and moved with his bride to set up practice in Le Sueur.
Richard’s passion in life was bringing health through Chiropractic. He practiced for 66 years, always true to the knowledge he gained at Logan College of Chiropractic, yet a life-long learner, constantly seeking techniques and skills to help his patients. He was dedicated to his profession, serving as President of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association and was a member of the Minnesota Board of Examiners.
He cared about his community, serving as a member of Le Sueur Economic Development commission, Rotary and Knights of Columbus.
Richard and Rose Mary were only children and decided they wanted the gift of a large family. He is survived by his children, Katherine (Ken) Leben, Bob (Kristie) Scott, Mary (George) Riviere, Steve (Laurie) Scott and Liz (Michael) Sparacino. He is also survived by grandchildren Kristen (Chris) Lybrook, Laura and Andrew Scott, Sarah (Nick) Fraboni and John Riviere, Ryan (fiancé Kendall), John and Natalie Scott and Christopher Sparacino. He was also blessed by 5 Great Grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife in 2011 and his grandson Scott Leben. We are grateful for the loving care he received from the entire team at St. Peter Benedictine Court and the compassionate support through his final days at St. Peter Rivers Edge Hospital.
