Edward A. Bleck, age 95 of Arlington passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Society. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23rd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Ed was born on January 27, 1924 in Renville County, the only child of Herman and Julia (Fernkes) Bleck. Ed served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He married the former Verna Trick on August 26, 1947 at St. Michael’s Rectory in Gaylord. Ed was always a busy body, making sure he had plenty to do during his working years and also in retirement. He was first and foremost a farmer. In addition to farming he worked various jobs throughout life. He worked as a mechanic in Hamburg, at the Milk Plant and Coast to Coast Store in Belle Plaine, at Farmhand in Green Isle and in retirement he worked at the Arlington Elevator and did custom lawn mowing through fall of 2018. Ed was a big lover of dogs. He also enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together, being a mechanic and was a member of Veterans on the Water.
Ed is survived by his two daughters; Carol Maeder of Arlington and Cathy (Mike) Fries of Jordan, 4 grandchildren; Chris Maeder, Doug Maeder (sp. friend Jeri), Nichole Spicer and Jeremy (Myra) Fries, 3 great grandchildren; Tavashia, Anayah and Zyra, and special friend; Glenda Effertz.
