Esther S. Wieland

Esther S. Wieland, age 100, of Henderson, Minnesota died on Monday, November 26 at the Ridgeview Health Care Center in LeSueur.  She was born on November 3, 1918 in Belle Plaine Township to Louis and Margaret (Sandman) Otto.  Esther attended country school and married Fred Wieland on May 10, 1939 in Belle Plaine.  They farmed near Heidelberg and Union Hill and moved to Henderson in 1945.  In 1961 they retired near Darwin and operated Wielands Campground & Boat Landing between Lake Stella and Lake Washington.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1977.  She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Henderson and the Ladies Guild.  She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, playing bingo, loved cats, and liked cooking and was known for her potato salad and chili. 

Esther is survived by her daughter, Lois Dvorak and a step-son, Gene Wieland of Henderson. Grandchildren,  Todd (sp. friend, Danita Plueger) Dvorak of Henderson and Tammy (Tom) Newman of Apple Valley.  Step-grandchildren,  Jay (Pauline) Wieland, Michael (Andrea) Wieland, Michelle (Brian) Cain,  Jessica Uebel and Lisa (Jim) Handy.  Great-grandchildren,  Tanya (Richard) Riemann and Toni Dvorak and Great-Great Grandchildren;  Marissa Milless, Michael Milless, Robert Riemann and Kyra Collins.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred,  Brother, Earl Otto and 2 infant brothers, Son-in-law,  Robert Dvorak, Step-son, LeRoy Wieland and a Step-granddaughter, Joy Race.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Henderson.  Rev. Deb Meyer will officiate.  Interment will be in the Brown Cemetery in Henderson.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.  .
