Frances Prahl Obituary

Frances Prahl left this world to join others who have gone before. She will be reunited with George, her husband of over 60years, family and friends who have been waiting for her.  She died peacefully on May 28 at Comfort Residence, knowing that she was loved and will be missed.  She had a long and rewarding life, reaching the age of 100 years, 9 months.  Frances was a cheerful and loving wife and mother.  She enjoyed playing piano, tending flowers, reading, music, cats and sewing.  She worked at jobs she enjoyed, at the LeSueur Greenhouse and as a seamstress at Star Cleaners.  She later worked at home doing mending, alterations, making clothes for customers, family, and herself.  She retired in her 90s but continued to make her own clothes.  In 1980 she underwent cancer surgery and lived for 39 more years.  She lived to see her grandchildren grow, get married and have children of their own.  Frances was born in Red Lake Falls, MN on 29 August, 1918, the daughter of William F. and Florence A. (Crandall) Schrepel and baptized into the Christian Faith.  The family later moved to a farm in Compton Township, Otter Tail County, just outside Wadena, MN.  In 1938 she came to LeSueur to work for her brother Loren who had started a florist business.  While in LeSueur she met and married George Prahl.  They were married in the Congregational Church in Wadena in March, 1941.   They lived in Palacios, TX where George was stationed in the army.  When George went overseas she returned to Wadena, where Allan was born in 1943.  She returned to LeSueur and worked for Distel Oil Company until George was discharged.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, brothers Paul, Donald, Loren, and sister Helen (Lundby).  She is survived by sons Allan of LeSueur and Leslie (Julie) of Maplewood, MN; granddaughter Dr. Annalisa (Daniel) Prahl-Eisenstein of Bedford, MA and grandson Nicholas (Belinda) Prahl of Madison, WI; beloved great-grandsons Alexander and Julian Eisenstein and Oscar and Marcus Prahl.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Zion UCC or the American Legion 55 of LeSueur.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on June 12, 2019 at Zion UCC with visitation an hour prior and followed by a luncheon at the church.  There will be a private internment.
