Jean H. Lundborg, age 90 of Belle Plaine passed away Saturday evening, November 2, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 15th at West Union Lutheran Church, rural Carver. A gathering of family and friends starts at 9:30 a.m. until service time the day of the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery followed by lunch.

Jean Hilda Lundborg was born in the family home in rural Carver County (Dahlgren Township), MN on August 26, 1929 to Roy and Hilda (Larson) Johnson. She was baptized on September 29, 1929 and confirmed on June 27, 1943 at West Union Lutheran Church. Jean graduated from Waconia High School on May 29, 1947 and attended the Miss Wood’s Kindergarten – Primary Training School in Minneapolis and graduated from that course on June 18, 1949. Jean’s teaching career began in Tracy, MN and also included assignments at Bongards, Cologne, East Union and Norwood. On June 18, 1950 she married Lester C. Lundborg at West Union Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with four boys; Tom, Jeff, Scott and Pete. Jean and Les, along with their family loved spending time at the lake, enjoying picnics, boat rides and water skiing. She loved to read, golf, garden, cook and watch birds. Later in life Jean was an avid fan of Jeopardy and the Wheel of Fortune. Jean was a member of the Carver County Parks Board and part of the planning committee for Baylor Park outside of Norwood, MN. Jean was also the first lady at West Union Lutheran to hold a position on the Church Council. Her favorite word was gentle which describes who Jean was in life.

Jean is survived by her sons, Jeff (Robin), Scott (Mary Kay), and Peter (Jeanne); daughter-in-law, Jan Lundborg; grandchildren, Ellie (Jim) Wagner, Josh (Abby) Lundborg, Amy Lundborg, Eric Lundborg, Carl Lundborg, Emily (Greg) Noll, Jeremy Lundborg, and Justin Lundborg; great grandchildren, Mayce Wagner, Jack and Emerson Lundborg, and Elin Noll; and brother-in-law, Harold Reistad.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Les (Sept. 16, 2008); son, Tom (Nov 16, 2013); siblings, Ione Anderson and Roy D. Johnson; brother-in-law, Gerald Anderson; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Johnson and Shirley Reistad.
