Leona Laabs, age 82 of Belle Plaine, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Wednesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior the service at the church on Thursday morning. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Leona was born in Blakeley Township, Scott County on May 24, 1937 to George and Angela (Schultz) Krenz. She grew up on a farm in Henderson. She met the love of her life and was united in marriage to Harlan Laabs on May 11, 1957 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. They lived in Belle Plaine and moved to the Laabs family farm in 1961. They were blessed with four children. She cleaned houses in the cities for 29 years and Valley View Nursing Home in Jordan for 2 years. Leona loved gardening, planting flowers, baking and taking care of her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Twins baseball games and listening to old time music. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Brian Laabs and sister in law Betty Krenz.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan,

5 Grandchildren, Melissa (Brandon) Meuleners, Anthony and Katie Murphy, Bradley (fiancé Megan Schmidt) Jeurissen and Nicholas (Brianna) Jeurissen.
Great Grandchildren, Fynnley Murphy and Tinsley Ferguson.
Siblings, Herbert Krenz of Le Sueur and Joanne (Vern) Morschen of Chaska.
