Lucy Eberlien, age 99 of Belle Plaine, formerly of the Twin Cities and George, Iowa died on Thursday evening at The Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. Services will be private at a later time.
Lucy was born on June 11, 1920 to Ben & Jenny (Vader Maaten) Koerselman near George, Iowa. She attended rural schools near George, Iowa and married Lloyd F. Eberlien on April 30, 1941 at Lyon County First Presbyterian church in George, Iowa. The couple lived near George, Iowa and moved to a farm near Menahga, MN from in 1957. Then relocated to the Minneapolis area in 1963 where Lucy worked at Lyman Clothing as a seamstress for many years. After Lloyd’s death in 1980, she relocated to Minnetonka and continued to work. In 2010, Lucy relocated to Kingsway Estates in Belle Plaine to be near her daughter. Lucy enjoyed her time with her family and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughters; Ardith (Gary) Nelson of Green Valley AZ, Helen (Walt) Lehtinen of Belle Plaine, MN and daughter-in-law, Naomi (Tom) Brown of Woodbury, MN. Eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, 39 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; husband, Lloyd; son, Harlan Eberlien and a son-in-law.
