Lydia Otto, age 77, passed away on December 18, 2018 at Friendship Manor in Shakopee. Memorial Service will be at 11a.m. on Friday, December 28, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Luncheon will follow service at the Vet’s Club in Belle Plaine, (221 N. Meridian). Interment will be at a later date in Brown Cemetery in Henderson.
Lydia was born in Henderson on January 9, 1941 to August and Lydia (Lange) Schultz. She grew up near Henderson and attended Henderson High School. She married Marvin Otto and moved to Gaylord where they had two daughters, Lisa and Amy. Lydia was a stay at home mom for her daughters and later worked for Sibley County in transportation and farmed chickens on the Messner farm. Lydia enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing bingo, playing cards, word find puzzles, cooking and much more. As Lydia approached her later years, she battled non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma which brought her to Shakopee where she received great care at Friendship Manor and lived for four years. She enjoyed being close to her grandchildren and watching every Big Brother & Survivor episode with her Nephew, Tom. The last few months Lydia suffered from pulmonary edema and heart failure which led her to her final days on earth. She is now reunited with all of the family and friends she has missed for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and all of her siblings, Inez (David) Gast, Floyd (Audrey) Schultz and Clarice (Fredric) Gasow.
Lydia is survived by daughters, Lisa Otto (David Ford, Glencoe) of Chanhassen and Amy (Stephen) Wolff of Chaska. Grandchildren, VaNessa Ford, Adam Ford, Connor Wolff and Layla Wolff. Great Grandchildren Jaxson and Jayce Strong. Many nieces and nephews.
