Tom Devine

Tom Devine, age 87 of Belle Plaine, passed away on January 3, 2019 at St. Gertrude’s Health Center in Shakopee.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine.  Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine.

Thomas Emmett Devine was born in Belle Plaine on March 17, 1931 to Robert Emmett and Katherine (Connolly) Devine.  He grew up in Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1949.  He proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War.  He married Mary Joanne Daly on June 29, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Belle Plaine.  Tom worked for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1998.  He enjoyed reading, watching his grandchildren compete in athletic events, and spending time with family, especially at the lake with his extended family.  Tom is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joanne.

He is survived by his daughters,

Mary (David) Unmacht of Eagan & Ann (Tom) Strey of Apple Valley,

Grandchildren, Sarah, Matt & John Unmacht, Patrick & Paul Strey,

Sisters, Sally (Jim) Young of Long Beach, CA, and Mary Ellen Devine of Richfield,

Sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Richard) Hiniker of White Bear Lake, and Jean Marie (Gerald) Martinson of Golden Valley, and many nieces and nephews.
