Victor Krumrey

Victor Krumrey, age 100 of Belle Plaine, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.  Funeral Service will be at 11a.m. on Thursday, March 14, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning.  Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.  Luncheon and fellowship will follow the burial at the Vet’s Club in Belle Plaine.

Victor August Krumrey was born in Belle Plaine on December 5, 1918 to Henry and Emma (Laabs) Krumrey.  At the age of 14, he and his twin brother Wes started a polka band and played for many events and weddings in the area.  On November 1, 1944 he married Grace Tiede at Trinity in Belle Plaine.  They enjoyed going to dances, eating at local restaraunts, going up north & shaking dice.  Vic worked for Coast to Coast Hardware, MN Valley milk plant for 25 years and the Belle Plaine schools for 15 years.

Vic went on to play with other area bands such as the Six Fat Dutchman, Ivan Kahle, Ben Barta & Ernie Stumpf Bands.  He was still playing his drums in his living room till his death and listened to KCHK every day.  He loved decorating the whole house at Christmas and won all three places in the Belle Plaine Christmas Lighting Contest throughout the years.  Vic was preceded in death by his parents, wife Grace and twin brother, Wesley.

Victor is survived by his daughter, Marlaine (Francis) Savelkoul and son, David Krumrey of Belle Plaine.  Grandchildren, Shelley & Stacy Savelkoul and Leah Krumrey. Great Grandchildren, Jeremy & Jeffrey.  Many Nieces & Nephews.
