Walter N. Tischer

Walter N. Tischer, age 88 of Le Sueur, died at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.  Funeral services will be on Monday, July 15, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Sueur, MN.   Visitation will be on Sunday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur from 3:00 p.m. ~ 6:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue at the church on Monday morning one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. services.  Military Rites and lunch will follow the service.  Interment will take place in Woodland Hills Cemetery in Mankato following lunch.  

Walter was born on October 26, 1930 in Rapidan, MN to William and Ida (Ratsch) Tischer.  He attended Rapidan Schools and farmed in the Rapidan area.  He married Edith Stursa on November 7, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN.  Walter continued to farm until 1958 and the couple moved to Le Sueur in 1961.  He worked for Swenson Construction until 1966 and the went to Uniman Sand from 1966-1974.  He then began work at Mico Inc. in Mankato from 1974-1994.  In his semi-retirement years he ran a saw blade sharpening business and delivered papers for the Minneapolis Trib. until very recently.

He is survived by his sons; Norman Tischer of Faribault, MN; Marcus Tischer of Le Sueur, MN and Orville Tischer and his special friend Patti Witt of Le Sueur, MN.  Grandchildren, Orville W. Tischer Jr. and his fiance’ Samantha Jensen; Nathan (Ashley) Tischer of North Mankato and Eli Yeomann and his fiance’ Alisha Hipp of Arlington, MN and  4 Great-grandchildren.  Siblings; Erwin (Rosie) Tischer of Good Thunder, Elna Bohlke of North Mankato and LaVerne (Emily) Tischer of Cambridge, MN.  He is preceded in death by his wife Edith in 2012.
