Agnes K. Camery

Agnes Kathryn Camery age 95 of Le Sueur died on Monday, December 16 2019, at Oak Terrace in Le Sueur, MN. She was born July 14, 1924 to Joseph P. and Mayme D. Blum in Earling, IA. Agnes spent her younger years on the farm there and later moved to Harlan, IA where she graduated from high school. She taught country school after high school graduation. On July 15, 1944, Agnes married Morgan “Pete” Camery in Harlan who was home on leave from the Marines. In 1945, she traveled to Washington DC to join the WAVES and was stationed at Hunter College, NY and in Washington DC. After their discharges, they moved to Ames, IA where they both attended Iowa State University. They then moved to Le Sueur, MN where she has lived since 1951. From 1994 to 2010, she wintered in Fort Meade, FL.

Agnes spent her married life raising a family and doing volunteer work. She was a talented seamstress, making clothes for her children, herself, and dolls. She was a member of St. Anne’s choir, a Cub Scout den mother, chairwoman of the Girl Scout organization, president of the Hospital Auxiliary, served on the board of the Le Sueur Country Club, and was active in the CCW at St. Anne’s Church.

She and Pete enjoyed spending time with their large group of friends. She was an avid bridge player all through her life and looked forward to weekly cocktail hours with friends and enjoyed many trips with friends and family.

Agnes is survived by her children Vicki (Jim) Weber of MN and AZ; Sue (Tom) Doherty of Lake Washington, MN; Joseph Camery (partner Deb Sanbeck) of Fargo; ND, Jim Camery (Tammy Tollefson) of River Falls; WI, Tom (Miranda) Camery of Blooming Prairie, MN; Kristin Camery of Minneapolis, as well as nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Agnes is also survived by brother, Joseph Blum, two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete in 1997 and two sons, Peter in 1975 and Bill in 2018.

Memorial services will be on Saturday, August 15, 2020, 11:00 a.m, Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, MN.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on that morning from 10:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m.  Burial with Military Honors to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur, MN.  Lunch will follow at the Le Sueur Country Club, Le Sueur, MN.  Memorials are preferred to Oak Terrace Living Center of Le Sueur and Mayo Hospice. Masks and social distancing will be required…
