Alexander Gavin Gieseke, of Arlington, MN passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, finishing his 8 year battle with cancer at the age of 17 years, 11 months and 15 days. Alex was born on September 3, 1999 to Aaron & Jen Gieseke in Waconia, MN. He was baptized on September 26, 1999 by Rev. Jim Carlson and confirmed on April 26, 2015 by Rev. Dan Hermanson both at Zion Lutheran church in Arlington, MN. Alex was a loving and cheerful person, never letting his disability get in his way. He loved babies and puppies but his real passion was in gaming. He owned most Nintendo systems and his favorites were Mario and Zelda. He would spend many hours on YouTube learning the trade and cheat secrets to help him with the games. Alex always enjoyed his time at school with his close friends, it kept him going. He wanted to make sure all their problems were solved and wanted to always be there for them. On April 27, 2009, Alex started an 8 year journey with cancer. Once again, this did not slow him down. Even with the loss of his right arm to cancer he adapted immediately. After a relapse of the cancer in January of 2016, Alex started the final part of his journey. Thanks to much community support, he was able to experience his passion and visit Cars Land in Disneyland. He was also able to see the Cars 3 movie. His favorite song , Life is a Highway came from the Cars movie. He took his last breath at 2:19 p.m. in the arms of his mother, father and brother. He entered into his next journey surrounded by close family and his best friends. He is survived by his parents; Aaron and Jen Gieseke and brother, Austin of Arlington, MN. Grandparents; Linda Peterson of Hamburg, MN and Larry & Jan Gieseke of Arlington, MN. Aunts and Uncles; Andy Peterson of Hamburg, Chrissy & Nate Chapman of Hamburg, Adam Gieseke of Arlington, MN and Andrew & Janell Gieseke of Bloomington, MN. Also survived by cousins; Lydia Chapman, Ciaus & Arius Gieseke; Great-grandma; Evelyn Gieseke of Arlington, MN. He is also survived by many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandpa Gus Peterson. Services will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, MN. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. at church. Rev. Debra Dawson presided over the services with his best friends, Brody Messner and Madison Krueger giving the eulogy.
