Alfred Andrew Schaefer

Alfred A. Schaefer, age 85 of Belle Plaine, formerly of Inver Grove Heights, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral Service will be at 11a.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Inver Grove Heights. Alfred was born on July 13, 1927 in Green Isle, MN to George and Martha (Schauer) Schaefer. He grew up in Green Isle, MN and in 1946 he enlisted into the U.S. Army. He later moved to West St. Paul, MN. Alfred married Lucille Haegle on May 2, 1954 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in South St. Paul. They lived in Inver Grove Heights and Alfred owned and operated Al's Body Shop in Inver Grove Heights and Rosemount. He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and antique tractors. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille; 2 brothers and 4 sisters Alfred is survived by his Daughter, Deborah (Roger) Malz of Belle Plaine; Son, Jeffrey (Lynn) Schaefer of Rosemount; Grandchildren, Shannon Willey, Sarah (Greg) Nelson, Jason (Diane) Willey, Kathryn (Ben) Schaefer, Michael (Lena) Schaefer and Jon Kruse; Great Grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan and Jadison; Sister, Dorothy Kamps of South St. Paul; Brother, John (Helen) Schaefer of South St. Paul; Sister-in-law, Lorina Schaefer of Inver Grove Heights; and many relatives,` nieces and nephews.
