Allan Joseph Giesen was born on September 14, 1958 in Arlington to Melvin and Marian (Bisek) Giesen. He was a 1977 graduate of Arlington Green Isle High School. On September 14, 1985 he married Robin Uecker at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. This union was blessed with three children; Brittany, Nate, and Brielle.
Al was so many things to so many people. He was the ninth of seventeen children, and loved his family deeply. He loved playing cards, teasing his sisters and the fishing trip with his brothers. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren will miss exploring through the woods and checking the garden for raspberries with him. He liked to take care of people, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. There is so much more to say about mushroom hunting, his love of Neil Young and a good polka, the Animal House, annual trips to the North Shore, and his time as the owner of the Arlington Enterprise. His family and friends will hold his quirks and mischievous smiles close to their hearts always.
