Allen J. Tolf, 80 of Jordan, Mn., passed away peacefully, Friday, June 1, at St. Frances Medical Center in Shakopee, MN. He was born November 30, 1931 to Elmer and Margaret Tolf on the Kelm Farm south of Henderson. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 19 and served on the USS Lloyd Thomas in the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas. His childhood and adolescence were filled with many hours of hunting and fishing. His love for horses started early in his life, under the watchful eye of his uncle, Alfred (Fritz) Kelm. He worked with draft horses. This interest continued and evolved into other forms of horsemanship including parade buggies, wagons and saddle horses. Allen worked for Bemis Co. in Minneapolis for over 40 years as a Machinist and took great pride in his work. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin (Lydia) and Roland; and sister, Lorna Tolf Mesker. He is survived by his brother, Eric (Mary) of Whitehall, Montana and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his very significant friend, Colleen Boys of Shakopee; and special niece, Sherri Goehring of Fallon, NV. Allen will be missed for his kind and gentle spirit. In lieu of flowers, please gift a donation to "The Friends of Rush River" horse riding park in Henderson. Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 5, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Henderson, MN, Rev. Briget Stevens, officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military honors.
