Allen W. Weckwerth

Allen Walter Weckwerth, age 68, of rural Arlington, died on Monday evening, December 20, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral service will be on Thursday, December 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington, MN with Rev. Kurt Lehmkuhl officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 29, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services on Thursday morning at the church. Interment will be in Arlington Public Cemetery. Allen was born on November 21, 1942, to Walter and Marion (Flantz) Weckwerth in Gaylord, MN. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley Township on December 13, 1942, by Rev. E. A. Kuntz and later confirmed there on May 13, 1956, by Rev. Christian Mohr. He graduated from Arlington-Green Isle High School in 1960. On June 8, 1963, he married Darlene Buck at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Allen farmed in Kelso Township, Sibley County his entire life. He farmed many years with his dad, David Buck and Gary Weckwerth. Allen was an active member in Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington, supervisor on Kelso Town Board, director for Kelso & Shelby Farmers Mutual Insurance, former Sibley County FSA Director, former Tri-Ag Services board member. Allen loved farming and the agriculture community. He loved visiting with family and friends, playing cards, trying something new, traveling and exploring different places. His wife said, when they traveled, he would always leave one way and came home a different way. He is survived by his wife: Darlene Weckwerth of Arlington. Sisters: Lois (Craig) Witchall of Duluth, Audrey (Richard) Vernon of Edina, Stuart Missling, brother-in-law of Minnetonka. Aunts: Helen Weckwerth, Arlington, Anna Dittmer, Fairfax. In-Laws on the Buck side: Adeline Schouviller of Mankato, Evelyn (Monroe) Tiegs of Henderson, Ruth Ann Buck of Arlington, Walter Buck of Henderson, Carol (Lyle) Jaster of St. Peter, LaVerne (Mick) Almquist of Henderson, Janet (Steve) Havemeier of Nicollet, Val (Lyle) Thompson of Nicollet, Richard (Cindy) Buck of Middleburg, FL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Marion Weckwerth, sister: Nellene Missling, father-in-Law and mother-in-law: Ernest and Regina Buck, brothers-in-law: Orin Schouviller and Wilbert Buck.
