Anna M. Kienitz

Anna Kienitz, age 98, of Arlington, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Arlington Good Samaritan Society. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 1 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington MN. Pastor James Carlson will officiate. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Anna was born on September 12, 1914, in Bigwoods Township near Oslo, MN, to Ole and Karen (Knutson) Ramon. She was baptized and confirmed at Bigwoods Lutheran Church in Oslo. Anna was a 1932 graduate of Oslo High School, after which she received training in Warren, MN and Moorhead Teacher's College to become a teacher. After completing her education she taught at country schools in Marshall and Sibley County in Minnesota. Anna was united in marriage on June 28, 1947 to Raymond Kienitz in Oslo, MN. After their marriage they made their home on the farm until moving into Arlington in 1981. Anna joined Zion Lutheran Church in 1948, she and Ray providing leadership when the congregation moved into town. Anna continued to be active in the life of Zion in many ways until she moved into the Good Samaritan Center in November of 2006. Anna also enjoyed her memberships in the Arlington Garden Club, the Arlington VFW Auxiliary, and Arlington Hospice. Anna is survived by her foster brother Clifford (Trudy) Thompson of Grand Forks, ND; sisters-in-law Neoma Kienitz of Arlington and Ramona (Lowell) Palmquist of Littleton, CO; 17 nieces and nephews and their families. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; her sister Clara Swanson; sisters-in-law and their spouses; Eileen (Glenn) Rehnke, Lorraine (William) Striepe, Minerva (Edward) Abrew, Murial (James) Raverty; brothers-in-law and their spouses; Leroy (Irma) Kienitz, Orville (Dolly) Kienitz, Roman (Rose) Kienitz and three nephews. In lieu of flowers, Anna's family has designated Zion Lutheran Church, Arlington, MN, and Lutheran World Relief for memorial contributions.
