Annette Griep-Baynes Hensler

Annette (Griep-Baynes) Hensler, age 94, of Mankato, formerly of Le Sueur, passed away on Saturday, August 25th at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. Memorial Service will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to service time. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Annette Louise was born on August 28, 1923 in LeSueur to Richard and Emma (Tresemer) Griep. She grew up in LeSueur and graduated from LeSueur High School in 1941. She attended teachers college in Winona and taught in country schools until her marriage to Harry Baynes on December 31, 1945. She worked at Green Giant company in the accounting office for over 40 years. After her divorce, she married Phillip "Rusty" Hensler on June 18, 1971. They enjoyed living in LeSueur and traveling around the U.S. in their RV eventually settling in Brownsville, TX. She was proud to be a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 74 years. Annette has most recently been living in Mankato at Oaklawn Nursing Home. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and enjoyed saying "I never met a stranger" as well as making cookies with her grandchildren and snuggling with babies. Annette is survived by her children, Ann (Paul) Kvasnicka of Payson, AZ, Paulette Leffleur of Naples, FL, Pat Baynes of Ashburn, GA, Mary (Wayne) Kendall of Garden City, MN, Peg (Doug) Verschelde of New Ulm, MN Jean (Jane Freund) Baynes of Carrboro, NC Barb Baynes of Mankato Phillip Hensler Jr. of Mankato 26 Grandchildren, 40 Great-grandchildren and 8 Great-great Grandchildren Brothers, Ray (Margaret) Griep of LeSueur, Malen (Margie) Griep of Ft. Myers and a sister, Beverly (LeRoy) Bosak of Savage, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rusty in 2006, grandson, Brian Matthew Grande; brothers, Ervin and Earl; sisters, Edna King, Irene Spellman and Marlene Borgardts
