December 2, 1923 — March 5, 2014

Anton W. (Tony) Zweber, age 90 of Belle Plaine died on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m, Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 4-8 p.m, Kolden Funeral Home, Belle Plaine. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until Mass time. Burial will be with Military Honors on Monday, March 24, 10:00 a.m. at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Fr. Michael Kaluza will officiate the services. Tony was born on the family farm in New Market township. He graduated from Lakeville High School, served in the army during WW II, then married the love of his life, Martha Koenig and attended the University of Minnesota earning a degree in agriculture. Tony was employed in agricultural services and sales, served as mayor of Cologne, MN and also ran the family farm for several years. Tony then became an insurance agent for New York Life. Tony considered NYL the best insurance company in the world and was a very proud NYLIC agent for 50+ years. Tony leaves his large family an amazing legacy: he was a devout Catholic, was relied upon for his honesty and shared his love of gardening and fishing. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Martha; children, Bonnie (Russ) Japs, Joe (Jane), Trish Anton, Lois (Bill) Huber, Leann (Chris) Bull, Julie (Vince) Steineke, Duane (Mary), Ellen Sherwood, Jim, Jane (Jon Swartzentruber) Trent and Don (Lisa Graves); 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and siblings, Carrie Weber, Bernard, Ben, Val, Dan, Dave, Jerry, Ed and Len. He is preceded in death by parents, Alex and Odelia; sister, Agnes; brothers James and Alex,Jr. and daughter, Marilyn.
