ARLENE MARIE WIETZKE, 84, died on Saturday, February 24, 2018. She was born on Friday October 13, 1933 in Green Isle Township, Sibley County, MN, the daughter of Richard Lueck and his wife Martha, nee Wentzlaff. She became a child of God and a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Green Isle, through Holy Baptism as an infant. She attended various country schools, graduating from eighth grade and confirming faith in her Savior at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and school, rural Arlington MN. At the age of 45 she achieved her GED from the state of Minnesota. On March 28, 1951 she was married to Vernon Wietzke at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, rural Arlington. Together they farmed a portion of the Wietzke family farm in Kelso Township, rural LeSueur MN. And the LORD blessed them with two children. During her lifetime she helped farm, and later did most of the farming while her husband worked for the Green Giant Company. Then still later she worked at Crystal Farms egg plant, the Green Giant company honing knives in the canning factory and packaging Meals Ready to Eat for the armed services. After the death of her husband, she sold the farm and moved to Whitewater WI where she joined her son's church, Christus Ev. Lutheran Church of rural Delavan WI. Her faith showed very much throughout her life. In her early years she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Later she served as a reporter for the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society and also made layettes for African babies for the Mission Society at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Arlington MN. There she also reported happenings for Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm MN to the Mission society. She loved playing cards and games, and was best known among her family and friends for being an excellent baker, specializing in her extremely high chiffon cakes. On February 24 2018, the LORD in his infinite wisdom called her from this temporary home to her eternal home with him in heaven, permitting her to reach the age of 84 years, 4 months and 11 days.
