Betty M. Hix, 89, of South Haven, Michigan (formally of Le Sueur, Minnesota) passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at River Ridge Retirement Village in South Haven. Betty was born September 26, 1924, to Emmett J. Kienlen and Elizabeth (Westphal) Kienlen in Traverse Township, Nicollet County, St Peter, and Minnesota. She was married to Donald F. Hix September 18, 1944 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Nicollet County. They farmed in the Rush River area until 1962. She worked for Green Giant Canning Company, Totino's Pizza and Pillsbury Company where she retired after 17 year of service. Betty lived a wonderful life filled with family, friends, music, dancing and travel. She enjoyed playing soft ball, bowling, golf, playing cards and shaking dice (she loved to take your money). In addition, she was a member of the Red Hat Society, St. Anne's Rosary Society and the CCW. She volunteered at the Le Sueur Hospital and the local Meals on Wheels. Betty is survived by three sons, John (Jan), Waterloo, Iowa, Joe (Barb), Le Sueur, Minnesota, Paul Fennville, Michigan: three daughters, Carol (Keith) Reed, Dayton, Nevada, Mary Tilley, Le Sueur, Minnesota, Donna Hix, Blaine, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Donald F. Hix, parents, two sisters and son-in-law. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 20 at Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, Minnesota with a 3:15 CCW Rosary and will continue on Monday at the funeral home until 10:15 a m. Services will be held Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur, Minnesota. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Sueur.
