Cecelia Catherine Grimme

Cecelia Catherine (Kay) Grimme, age 84 of Belle Plaine and formerly of Cadiz, Kentucky, died on March 19, 2011 at her home at Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine. Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Kingsway Retirement Living (3rd floor gathering room) in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Kingsway. Interment will be at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elkader, Iowa. Cecelia Catherine was born on June 24, 1926 in Elkader, IA to Joseph and Hildagard ( Pieck) Downey. After she graduated from Monona High School, she lived in Dubuque, IA, where she met Harold Grimme. Cecelia Catherine and Harold were married on June 1, 1948 in Elkader, Iowa. She and Harold raised their children in Shakopee, MN and in 1987 retired to Cadiz, Kentucky. They returned to Minnesota in 2007. Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents, brother Charles Downey, and sister Mary (Downey) Looney. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Jorgenson of Andover, MN , Jean Jeannotte of St. Louis, MO, and Diane (Bruce) Clausen of Belle Plaine, MN, and son, David Grimme of Bloomington, MN; grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer) Jorgenson, Scott Jorgenson, Allen Clausen, Johanna Clausen and Catherine (James) Marshall; 10 great grandchildren; sister Mildred (Downey) Walch of Elkader, IA; brothers Robert (Joann) Downey of Cedar Rapids, IA and Keith (MaryJo) Downey of Laramie, WY, and nieces and nephews.
