David Roufs

David M. Roufs, age 61 of Belle Plaine, MN went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2018 supported by family members and under the loving care of the Hope Residence staff and the staff of Hospice of the Twin Cities. Funeral Services will be private. David was born July 27, 1957 in New Prague, MN to Merwyn and Beverly Roufs. David resided at Delphi, an intermediate care facility in Shakopee, MN for 39 years from May 9, 1977 until he moved into the Hope Residence facility in Belle Plaine, August 2016. David was such an enjoyable individual that loved a good joke or prank. No matter what kind of a day you were having, David could always find a way to put a smile on your face. He was a polka music fan and loved to dance. He would find any reason to dance, even if no one else was dancing. David enjoyed wood working and built many things over the years including a bird house, shelves for his room and a stand of shelves that he used for his record player. He was also a fan of coloring and looking at magazines and books. David had a special relationship with his roommate and they were good friends throughout their years of sharing a room. They would often participate in activities together and they always looked out for each other. He got along well with his peers and enjoyed participating in all types of activities. He knew sign language and was very responsible towards his work. He hated to miss a day of work, even if he wasn't feeling well. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Roufs and his grandparents. Survivors include his father, Merwyn John Roufs; sisters, Robin (Larry) Larson, Jill (Steve) Fleming and Rebecca (William) Gammelgaard; brothers, Gary Roufs and Jonathan (Connie) Roufs; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was loved by all who enjoyed his company over the years and will be dearly missed.
