David Elmer Stier

June 23, 1942 — December 5, 2010

David E. Stier, age 68 of Lakeville, died on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center in Burnsville after a long struggle with health issues. Funeral Service will be at 11a.m. on Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, Pastor Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at church on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. David was born in Shakopee on June 23, 1942 to Elmer and Marvel (Schmidt) Stier. He grew up in rural Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. On September 16, 2000 he married Barbara Olsen in Lakeville. Dave loved and was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He was the brother and uncle who couldn't wait to play a joke or surprise on someone. Dave was an old time music fan and played the concertina earlier in life. He loved to tell stories about old German bands in the New Ulm area and enjoyed his friendships with those folks. He is preceded in death by his mother Marvel, brother in law, Doug Plantikow and granddaughter, Tanya. Many thanks to Dr. Rick Moore, Dr. Rajeev Kaul, the wonderful staff at Burnsville Dialysis center and Ebenezer Ridges Care Center for their kind and compassionate care. David is survived by his wife, Barbara of Lakeville, Children, Diane (Leon) Maidl of Lafayette, Mark (fiancée Connie Keim) Stier of Mankato, Dan (Carmen) Stier of Mina, SD, Grandchildren, Sam, Ben, Brady, Amanda, Tom and Alex, Father, Elmer (Carol) Stier of Belle Plaine, Siblings, Dale (Susie) Stier of Belle Plaine, Carol (Larry) Hartman of Windom, Lois Plantikow of St. Louis Park, Lynne (Archie) Gross of Le Sueur, Many nieces, nephews, family and friends, and much-loved dog, Maddy. Memorials preferred to the Animal Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association.
