David A. Westphal

David A. Westphal, age 59, of Belle Plaine died on Sat., Jan. 20, 2012 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. He was born on March 15, 1952 in New Prague to Erwin and Eleanore (Peltz) Westphal. He grew up in Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1970. He married Ruth Ann Tesch on October 21, 1972 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. David worked for Green Giant in the can plant in Savage from 1970 to 1976 and then Valley Processors until 1979. He owned D & R Sportsman's Bar in Belle Plaine from 1979 until 2000. He worked at Emma Krumbee's Bakery and also the delivered the Mankato Free Press for over 20 years. David was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling and various bowling, dart and softball leagues. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, Children, Bree Olson of Belle Plaine, Jason (Tabitha) Westphal of Crystal, mother, Eleanore Westphal of Belle Plaine, brother, John (Jan) Westphal of Belle Plaine and sister, Jeanette (William) Noll of Surprise, AZ Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 Tuesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wed.
