Debra Kay Smith, age 51, of Gaylord and formerly of LeSueur and New Prague, Minnesota died on Monday, December 26 at the Mala Strana Nursing Home in New Prague. She was born on April 5, 1965 in St. Ansgar, Iowa to Justin and Delores (Ripka) Tieman. Deb graduated from St. Ansgar High School. She married Richard Smith 0n July 17, 1999 in Nashua, Ia. They lived at Nashua, Iowa, and in New Prague from 2000 until moving to LeSueur in 2009. In 2014 they moved to Gaylord. She worked for many years as a day care provider in Iowa and New Prague and later at Alco in LeSueur. Deb especially enjoyed her family time, flowers, dog and cats and playing cards. She is survived by her husband, Rick and children, Josh Smith of Minneapolis, Sarah (Scott) Lester of Clear Lake, IA, Nick (girlfriend, Amber Sorbo) Smith of St. Paul, Stephanie Smith of Mankato and Michael Smith of New Prague and 3 grandchildren, Kennedy, Grayson and Violet Lester. Also surviving are siblings, Dennis (Deb) Tieman of Freemont, WI, Darwin Tieman, Spencer Tieman, Brian Tieman, Larae Tieman, and Doug Tieman all of Lyle, Minnesota and Denise (Shane) Ferguson of Lakeville, MN and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in LeSueur. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church. Kolden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
