Deniece Marie Smith

Deniece M. Smith, age 58 of Arlington, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at her home in Arlington. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington. Rev. James Carlson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church on Saturday. Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements. Deniece was born on December 22, 1953 to Don and Anne (Holmberg) Smith in El Paso, TX. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1972 and was a 1976 graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead with a degree in Education and Spanish. She obtained her Master's degree from St. Mary's in Winona. Her first teaching position was in Northwood, ND. She then came to the Sibley East school district working at the Green Isle, Arlington and Gaylord campuses for the past 32 years. She had a passion for educating elementary aged children. Deniece is survived by her parents, Don and Anne Smith of Arlington; sister, Dawn (Manly) Carpenter of Owasso, OK; nieces, Amber and Amanda; aunts, uncles and many cousins.
