Derold L. Braun, formerly of North Mankato, MN died Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Lutheran Home - Belle Plaine. Services are at 11am on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Nicollet, MN. Visitation is 1 hour prior to service at church. Kolden Funeral Services of Belle Plaine is handling the arrangements. Derold Louis Braun was born in Nicollet Township on May 4, 1918 He was the son of Walter and Mabel (Bode) Braun. He was baptized on May 12, 1918 and confirmed on March 20, 1932 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland. He attended school at Immanuel Lutheran Church and in the Judson area where the family moved to in 1927. On April 21, 1945, he was united in marriage to Della Marie Ulrich in New Ulm, MN. Derold is survived by Della, his wife of 68 years, Children; Dennis (Ruth) Braun of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Jeanne Braun of Inver Grove Hts., MN, Margo (Larry) Bruegger of No. Mankato, MN, Loren (Barbara) Braun of Golden Valley, MN; and Carol (Mark) Koehler of Nicollet, MN and 11 grandchildren: Laura Braun, Joel Braun, Andrew (Charis) Braun, Jana (Matthew) Renzelmann, Michael (Kimberly) Bruegger, Ann (Bill) Lewis, Cara (Grant) Meyer, Emily (Christopher) Ryan, Elena Braun, Megan Koehler (Fiance Ben Orth) and Brian Koehler. 4 Great Grandchildren; Emma, Matthew and Jacob Bruegger, Benjamin Lewis. He is survived by in-laws; Irma Ulrich, Marvin and Vicky Ulrich, Jack Ulrich, Lorna and William Starke and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, brother, Stanley; 6 sisters-in-law and 4 brothers-in-law. Derold farmed in rural No. Mankato. In 1980, Derold and Della retired and moved to a home in No. Mankato. In 2004, they moved to Monarch Meadows Assisted Living in No. Mankato. In 2013, they became residents of the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. Derold was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Nicollet, MN and served on various church councils at Trinity and Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland. He also served on the Nicollet township board. He was a member of Immanuel and Trinitys dartball teams. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
