Donald A. Guertin

Donald Guertin, age 89 of Belle Plaine, passed away on October 17, 2018 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Brian Lynch will officiate the Mass. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and will continue one hour prior to Mass on Friday at the church. Interment with Military Honors will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Don was born in Le Sueur on September 10, 1929 to Andrew and Magdalene (Meger) Guertin. He grew up in Le Sueur and graduated from Le Sueur High School. He did some excavating work before serving his country in the Air Force. He married Savern Klehr on May 12, 1952 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. They farmed near Belle Plaine and Don continued work in excavating and at the John Deere Implement in Belle Plaine. He served on the San Francisco Township Board and on the Farm Fire Association for many years. He enjoyed fishing, helping fix things for others and hosting international visitors. Don is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Audrey Redden and Ivan and Jerry Guertin. He is survived by his wife Savern; children, Duane (Mary) Guertin of Bloomington, Susan Cole of Belle Plaine, Carol (Robert) Holicky of Le Sueur, Paul (Sherry) Guertin of Belle Plaine; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Brandt of Belle Plaine; and many nieces and nephews.
