Donna Jean Mellem

Donna Jean Mellem, age 90, died on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in LeSueur. She was born on June 8, 1926 in Mavie, Minnesota to James and Nettie (Buranek) Hruby. Donna lived in northern Minnesota on the family farm and later married Ervin Mellem on August 30, 1950 at Thief River Falls, Minnesota. They have lived in LeSueur since 1951 where Donna enjoyed walking, gardening, poetry, camping and traveling in their motor home, fishing and bird watching. She worked at International Multifoods, ADC and Green Giant. Donna was a member of the Presbyterian Church in LeSueur. Survivors include her husband, Ervin, Daughter, Jean (Todd) Topel of Bloomington 2 Grandchildren, Matthew Mellem of Douglasville, Georgia and Laura (Jason Stopa) Mellem of New Orleans Great Grandson, Jackson Stopa Sister, Rosalie Wilson of Crookston, Minnesota She was preceded in death by a son, Leslie, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church in LeSueur. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery in LeSueur. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
