Doris Darlene (Fisher) Meyer

Doris Darlene Meyer, 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday October 22, 2024.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 at 2pm (visitation from Noon ~ 2:00 p.m., coffee and bars will be served) at the Arlington United Methodist Church.  Burial will be at the Arlington Cemetery following the service.

Doris was born on the family farm in South Dakota on March 13, 1934 to Charles "Eddie" and Lola (LaBore) Fisher.  She enjoyed her life on the farm being raised with her best friend and sister, Shirley.  Whether it was her small-town country school or classes in Sioux Falls, Doris loved school and the many friends she made along the way.

In 1956 she met Dallas Meyer and from the first moment he laid eyes on her, he knew she would become his wife.  They were married shortly thereafter in Willow Lake on May 19th, 1957.  They had two beautiful children, Jeffrey and Pamela.

Doris spent many years working at the Arlington Green Isle School as their Fiscal Affairs Manager.  She loved her job, her co-workers, and especially when her granddaughters would stop by during the school day to visit.  After she retired, she worked part time as a cook at High Island Creek Residences where she shared her love for cooking with others.

Doris lived a life dedicated to family and friends.  She was a fancy lady who took pride in looking her best.  She enjoyed going everywhere and doing all the things with her family. She loved so well, was so well loved, and lived life to her fullest until the very end.

Doris is survived by her children; Pamela (Curt) Schmidt and Jeffrey Meyer, grandchildren Emily (Chris) Harren, Lindsey (Joshua) Johnson, and Lacey (Krzysztof Bugdal) Schmidt; and great grandchildren Jaci, Conner, and Jordyn Harren, Cassie and Jake Johnson, and Nola Bugdal. Many loved nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Lola; husband Dallas; sister Shirley, and many other loved family and friends.
