Doris Zeiher Heimkes

Doris Zeiher Heimkes, age 76 of Arlington passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28th at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Green Isle. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to mass time Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Doris Ann Litzau Zeiher Heimkes was born on August 18, 1941 in Plato, Mn. to Hugo Charles and Anna (Herrmann) Litzau. She was baptized on September 7, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Helen Township, rural Glencoe by Rev. Dysterhoff. Doris was confirmed on April 3, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Plato by Rev. Schuett. Doris attended school in Plato for four years and then St. John's country school for another four years and graduated from Glencoe High School. In 1960 she was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Green Isle by Fr. Savage. On February 14, 1961 she married Allan Zeiher at St. Brendan Catholic Church. They farmed by Green Isle for 23 years until Allan passed away on August 10, 1984. Doris moved to Arlington in 1991 and married Ray Heimkes on June 25, 1994 at St. Brendan Catholic Church. Doris worked as a waitress in Green Isle for two years and then as a clerk at the Ben Franklin store and Coast to Coast store in Arlington. She worked in housekeeping at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center for 9 ½ years and later at Glencoe Regional Health Services for another eight years until retirement. Doris liked to read, bake, cook, work outside, have a garden, enjoyed travel and mostly her grandchildren and going to their sporting events. She was a member of the Green Isle American Legion Auxiliary and St. Brendan's CCW. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband Allan Zeiher, son Brian Zeiher, and brother Johnny. She is survived by her husband Ray Heimkes of Arlington, sons; Mark (Ann) Zeiher of LeSueur, Scott (Colleen) Zeiher of Green Isle and Cory (Jana) Zeiher of Cold Spring, grandchildren; Jamie, Jake, Megan, Amber, Mason, Sam, Dane and Morgon, great grandchildren; Shelby, Myles and Dakota, extended family; Jill (Doug) Ernst, Billy (Bonnie) Heimkes, Kathy Herrmann, Dan (Jane) Herrmann and Scott Herrmann, grandchildren; Emily, Abby, Jared, Logan (Ashlyn), Josh (Krista), Luke (Kelsey), Mark and Melanie, great grandchildren; Austin, Dakota, Trenton, Trevor, Briana, Wyatt, Carter, Jordyn, Ashlynn, Kailynn and Blakeley.
