Dorothy "Dory" Louise Renn

Dorothy Louise “Dory” Renn, age 79 of Lakeville, and formerly of Belle Plaine and Clearwater, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Moments in Lakeville. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Lutheran Home Cemetery in Belle Plaine. After the burial, a luncheon will be held at the Belle Plaine Vet’s Club. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Doctors without Borders or Heifer International in Dory's name.

Dory was born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 17, 1946, to Lloyd and Evelyn (Renn) Drane. She Graduated from Holy Rosary Academy (High School) and went on to the University of Kentucky. She continued her studies and she graduated with her PhD from the State University of New York-Buffalo. Dory was a professor of Psychology at St. Cloud State University for 31 years and she was honored as Professor of the Year by Kappa Delta Pi in 1996. She retired in 2008 and spent eleven years traveling through Europe, spending most of that time living in Paris. Upon her return to Minnesota, she moved to Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine where she enjoyed the town and community. She was an avid reader and a published author. She was a great cook and greatly admired Julia Child. Dory was a true conservationist and enjoyed being outdoors, walking, and admiring nature.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Evelyn (Renn) Drane, her sister Mary “Toni” (Drane) Kampschaefer, and sister-in-law Nancy Drane.

Dory is survived by her children, Gregory Renn and Marta Renn and grandson Tatum Renn, brother, William Drane. Dear friend, Carol Leinonen (Linden Hermel). Nieces, nephews, and friends.
