Dorothy May Erickson

Dorothy May Erickson, age 92 of Le Sueur, MN died Thursday morning, June 15, 2023 at French Meadow Place in Le Sueur, MN.  Prayer service will be at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur followed by a visitation from 4:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m.  Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery with her husband Gerald at a later date.

Dorothy was born on May 26, 1931 to George and Sina (Dahl) Whealy in Vesta, MN.  She attended country schools in the Vesta ~ Seaforth, MN area and later married Gerald Erickson on August 21, 1955 in Belview, MN.  The couple lived most of their lives in St. Peter, MN.  She worked as a waitress for a short time at Cooks Café in St. Peter and later for 35 years in housekeeping at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, (Wahlstrom Dorm).  Gerald died in 1998.

She is survived by her daughter, Vinnie Erickson and her special friend Jerry Denzer of Le Sueur, MN.   Grandchildren; Kyle (Jessica) Steinke of Le Sueur, MN; Erik (Ashley) Steinke of Le Sueur, MN and Jerry’s children; Christopher Denzer of Chandler, AZ and Jillian (Jeremiah) Manns of Vesta, MN.  13 Great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Mae Erickson of Cleveland, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald, siblings; Florence Duscher, Gordon Whealy, Evelyn Manderschied and Thomas Whealy.  Two infant grandchildren; Jeremy and Tyler.
