Dorothy Karlstad Woestehoff Dorothy Helen Karlstad Woestehoff was born on March 31, 1944, to Harris and Helen (Royer) Karlstad in Volga, South Dakota. She was baptized on June 18, 1944, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington, South Dakota. She attended grade school at Windsor #18. She was Confirmed in 1959, as a sophomore, at Trinity. Dorothy graduated from Arlington High School in 1962. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis and did secretarial work at MN Farmers Mutual Insurance Company and later at Sylvania Electric Products. Dorothy and John Wilmer Woestehoff were united in marriage on July 27, 1968. They lived in rural Henderson and farmed throughout their 42 ½ married years. They had three children and seven grandchildren. After the birth of the first grandchild, Dorothy began what the family lovingly called "Dorothy's Daycare." This was one-of-a-kind childcare for grandchildren only and the business operated both day and night. "Grandma Dorothy" loved to spend time with all of her grandchildren. In life, Dorothy's greatest delight was family. She served God and she served others before herself. Dorothy enjoyed quilting for Lutheran World Relief, gardening (including growing pumpkins for her grandchildren), family vacations, decorating cakes for family, writing poems, attending grandchildren events, helping others, sending cards, supporting mission work, and giving gifts to Operation Christmas Child. Dorothy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in September 2010. Since then she encountered many related health challenges; yet, always stayed strong in her faith. Throughout each step, Dorothy repeatedly said, "I am so richly blessed." Dorothy met her Savior on March 21, 2011. Dorothy is survived by her husband, John, of Henderson, MN. She is survived by her three children, David (Krista) Woestehoff of Belle Plaine, Pam (Dave) Weiers of Henderson, Kevin (Sally) Woestehoff of Plainview. She is survived by seven grandchildren, all living at home: Christopher and Michael Woestehoff, Kayla and Evan Weiers, and Isaac, Lindsey, and Luke Woestehoff. She is survived by two brothers, Richard (Linda) Karlstad of St. Michael, and Donald (Julie) Karlstad of Arlington, South Dakota. Dorothy is also survived by John's sisters and families, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harris and Helen Karlstad, and infant brother, Eugene.
