Dorothy M. Mueller

Dorothy M. Mueller, age 88 of Belle Plaine, passed away on September 9, 2013 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Saturday, September 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Ed Fredrich will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Dorothy was born in Blakeley Township on February 24, 1925 to William and Mary (Westphal) Ernst. She was baptized by Rev. C.F. Kock and confirmed by Rev. Schuetze at Trinity in Belle Plaine. She attended 8 years of country school. Dorothy married Edmund Mueller on December 11, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. Schuetze. They farmed in Belle Plaine Township until 1954 when they moved to San Diego, CA. In 1970 they returned to Belle Plaine where she started work at the Lutheran Home for 27 years. Dorothy had to retire to take care of her ill husband, although she still enjoyed volunteering at the Lutheran Home and the Thrift Store. She also enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, flower and vegetable gardening and walking around town daily. Dorothy was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and member of the Trinity Ladies Aide. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund; son, Darrell Mueller; grandson, Michael Mueller; granddaughter, Michelle Laff; brothers, Elmer, Lawrence and Vernon Ernst; sisters, Mildred Haas and Lillian Wolfe. Dorothy is survived by her 4 children, Maynard Mueller of Ramona, CA, Manley (Colleen) Mueller of Jordan, MN, David (Kelley) Mueller of Ramona, CA, Debbie (Michael) Shaughnessy of Belle Plaine, MN; 8 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Sister, Merna Otting of Le Sueur; Sisters in law, Rose and Helen Mueller, Many Nieces and Nephews.
