Earl Budahn

Earl Berthold Budahn, age 71 of Arlington, died Monday, August 1, at Hennepin County Medical Center, after complications from a fall a few days earlier. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Arlington, with visitation starting at 9 A.M. and continuing until the service. Father Keith Salisbury officiating. There will be a private interment at New Ulm City Cemetery. Earl Budahn was born on March 13, 1940, in Arlington MN to Vernon and Myrtle (Sinell) Budahn. Earl graduated from Arlington high school in 1958, and continued his education at the aviation school in Eden Prairie. In 1959 he started work at Budahn's International Garage, Inc.. He was also a member of the Air Force Reserve. On September 16, 1967, Earl was united in marriage to Joan Haggenmiller at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. In 1989 he started working for United Airlines, retiring in 2001. He then worked at Highland Commons and Hutchinson Coop. Earl liked motorcycling, RC model airplanes, and was also a private pilot. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Earl is survived by his wife, Joan, of 43 years, three daughters, Nancy (Darren) Buckentin of La Porte, Penny (Scott) Luepke of Arlington, and Cindy (Deron) Filip of Phoenix AZ. Grandchildren, Tyler and Joshua Buckentin, and Lucas and Ella Luepke. Brother Alvin (Marianne) Budahn of Darwin, and sister-in-law Naomi Budahn of Courtland. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Grace Budahn, parents-in-law Nick and Margaret Haggenmiller, siblings Lewis, Verne, Claude and an infant sister.
