Earl E. Wieman has gone on to greener fields. He passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Oak Terrace Retirement Community, Gaylord, Minnesota. Earl enjoyed over 90 years doing what he loved most, farming. Earl was born on the Wieman farm, Dryden Township, on January 8, 1924 to Walter and Amy (Estenson) Wieman. He married Janet Otto on February 17, 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota. Earl and Janet enjoyed 64 years of marriage, being best friends, farming and raising their family together. Earl lived on the family farm his entire life until he moved to Oak Terrace in October 2012. He won many recognitions and awards for his excellent dairy herd. Earl and Janet traveled and visited many places throughout our great country. Earl loved dancing with Janet and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Earl's pride and joy was his family. He was at his happiest when his family and friends were gathered together, especially when he was grilling. Earl was a lifelong member of the Arlington United Methodist Church. He was the current oldest member to be baptized and confirmed at the church. Earl is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Carl (Denise) Wieman of Owatonna, Minnesota, Allen (Heidi) Wieman of Arlington, Susan Lance of Peterson, Minnesota, Sharon (Keith) Buckley of Bellevue, Nebraska and Lee (Laurie) Wieman of Arlington, Minnesota; grandchildren, Matt and Dan Wieman, Mark and Ben Wieman, Jeff Peterson, Nicole, Jason and Jeremy Lance, Amanda Baumgartner, Amy Buckley, Aspen Arbuckle and Andy Hage; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Evan Wieman, Peyton Wieman, Braydon and Braxton Peterson, Austin Baumgartner, Joey, Gavin, Sully and Silvie Lance, JJ and Paul Lance and Riley and Keaton Arbuckle. Earl is also survived by his brother, Bob (Barb) Wieman; his sister, Marilyn Witty; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Amy; parents-in-law, Henry and Viola Otto; brother, Don Wieman; sister, Jeanne Denny and son-in-law, Dick Lance. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Arlington United Methodist Church, Arlington, Minnesota. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the church before the service. Earl donated his body to the Mayo Clinic.
