Edith Joyce was born to Ingwald and Helen Ostreim in Minneapolis. She graduated from the U of M, and began her teaching career. Joyce was an excellent kindergarten teacher. It was a blind date at a Gopher football game, that Joyce met E. Elmer Jutila. After they were married they made their home in Le Sueur, MN. Joyce taught for 25 years at Park Elementary shaping the lives of many children. She was an active member of The Presbyterian Church of Le Sueur. Retirement brought Joyce and Elmer to Florida and West Fox Lake. Both were charter members of Crosslake Presbyterian Church. Joyce was an ordained Elder and Deacon. When Joyce decided she no longer wanted to spend her winters in Florida, she went north to Duluth! At first she was in her own apartment; then Joyce spent the last five plus years living with her daughter. Joyce died in this home at the age of 96.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, husband, and sons; Erik and Jon. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Rev. Kari L. Jutila, brother, David Ostreim, and many nieces and nephews.
